Interim Pastor/Head of Staff

Second Presbyterian Church (Louisville, Kentucky) is seeking a full-time interim pastor/head of staff. With approximately 1,150 members, our community encompasses diverse social, political, and faith perspectives.

Scope & Purpose

  • Provide interim leadership for Second Presbyterian Church during transition.
  • Support the congregation in implementing recent visioning and strategic planning.

Qualifications

  • A Master of Divinity degree from a recognized Christian theological institution.
  • An understanding of and acceptance of the polity, policy and structure of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and support for the theological perspectives of our tradition as outlined in The Book of Confessions of the PC(U.S.A.)
  • At least 5 years of experience serving a larger, multi-staff congregation as head of staff is preferred.
  • Training in transitional ministry is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on worship planning with staff.
  • Provide pastoral care, including weddings, funerals, hospital visitations, and homebound member visits.
  • Lead educational activities and participate in Christian education.
  • Act as staff liaison to various congregational committees.
  • Support and lead staff through meetings and retreats.
  • Preach 2 to 3 services a month.
