Listening, caring and counseling are ways the church extends the love of God to persons with emotional, spiritual and relational hurt. The Kilgore Counseling Center was established by a partnership of Second Presbyterian and St. Francis of the Fields Episcopal Church as a place where clinical expertise is combined with spiritual sensitivity. Here people will find a different kind of "sanctuary," where the context of Judeo-Christian values and faith are respected as a part of the therapeutic process.
The Kilgore Samaritan Counseling Center provides an encouraging context for "soul work" - spiritual guidance, ethical discovery, emotional healing, hope and new life perspectives. Services include:
- pastoral counseling and individual therapy
- marriage preparation, couples counseling, and family therapy for all age groups
- grief and life-crisis counseling
- a variety of educational workshops
- supervision and consultation for clergy and counseling professionals (such as the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, the American Association of Marriage & Family Counselors and the Licensed Clinical Social Workers)
All counselors are licensed or supervised as part of the licensing process. The Center is affiliated with the Samaritan Institute of Denver, Colorado, a certification and consulting agency for faith-based counseling centers.
A standard fee is charged which varies according to the service provided. Third party payments are accepted toward the payment of these fees. An adjusted fee may be arranged when necessary and as funding allows.
