Parent's Day Out affords a safe and caring place for parents to leave their children at a reasonable cost, as well as to allow the children the opportunity to play together and socialize in a friendly, Christian environment. A typical day consists of music, stories, finger-plays, arts and crafts, and other activities. There are also snack and lunch times, and buggy rides or playground time. Our staff is trained to provide warm, loving care in a safe atmosphere and to provide positive guidance to enhance each child's self-esteem. Our director, Nancy Miller, is trained in Red Cross first aid and infant/child CPR, as are some of the other staff. The program is available for children between the ages of three months and two years of age. Two separate sessions are held each week: Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Parents may also choose to attend only one day per week. In addition, a lunch group is available from noon until 2 p.m. for two-year-olds that are enrolled in the Second Presbyterian Weekday School program. The children are separated according to age, with each class having 9 children. The infant class has 3 staff and other classes have 2 staff. The lunch group has 10 children with two staff. Parents Day Out runs from September to August each year. Registration for the fall begins in January. Priority is given to church members. All others will be accepted as space becomes available. For more information or for registration contact Nancy Miller.
